Summer 2022

Heading into 2020, Lilli and Nick had already been discussing engagement and marriage. As the pandemic grew and evolved over the summer, we realized that it could be a year or more before we could safely have a "normal" wedding. As much as we wanted to get married in front of our big family and community, we could not, in good conscience, ask people to attend. We thought about what mattered to us most, and one thing became abundantly clear– it was, and still is, very important to us that we have our dearest friends and family there to witness and support our union! We saw an opportunity in the obstacles posed by the pandemic– the opportunity to have a small and simple wedding now, followed by a second larger celebration later! We commenced a whirlwind period of planning. After all, the ceremony would have to be outside to be safe, and Oregon weather does not stay dry for very long. On October 17, 2020, we were married in an outdoor, backyard ceremony attended only by our parents, siblings, and their partners. The reception consisted of snacks and cake in a park across the street. It was a beautiful day and, most importantly, no one got sick. Today, marriage certificate in hand, we feel happy, blessed, and very much in love. The only thing missing is that we didn't have the opportunity to celebrate our union with you! So, at some point within the next year or two, we will be doing it again! This one will look much more like a traditional wedding, with a reception, dancing, and all the other wonderful things that people do when they gather to celebrate the joining of two lives. Exactly when and where our second wedding celebration will take place remains to be seen. Our best guess is sometime in Summer 2022. We can't wait to share the details with you! In the meantime, we wanted to share the news of our first wedding celebration, and to let you know that another one is in our future. Love, Nick and Lilli
