How We Met

Drive By Love

Lillian and Solomon attended the Savannah College of Art and Design to pursue their dreams of one day working in the entertainment industry. Solomon, a sophomore, was walking with his best friend Adam down a popular street in downtown Savannah, Georgia. Lillian and her roommate were driving down the street when they noticed Adam, their RA in the freshman dorms. They called out to Adam to say hi and waved as they drove by. Solomon, enamored with Lillian's beauty asked Adam "Dude, who was that???" After much deliberation Adam finally agreed to introduce Lillian and Solomon at a house party. Solomon was very shy, but Lillian felt a draw to him and decided to trust her instincts. She gave Solomon her number before leaving the party, and the rest is history. April 4th, 2019 will signify 8 years of commitment, and the two will be married the following day...

The Proposal

Totality or Bust

For Lillian's 26th birthday, Solomon surprised her with an Airbnb reservation in Portland. They decided to do a road trip from Los Angeles, and spent several days traveling to Oregon. To Lillian's surprise, their reservation dates overlapped with the Solar Eclipse of August 21st, 2017. They spent several days in Portland soaking up the sites, and then traveled South to Salem, Oregon to witness the natural phenomenon of the total Solar Eclipse. Solomon's plan was to propose after he and Lillian witnessed the historic event, so they spent the morning looking for a private piece of land to witness it from. After driving all over Salem, they finally found a quiet farm isolated from the rest of town. The two wandered out onto the pasture and as the sky grew darker they knew totality was upon them. The farm animals acted strangely, they could hear crickets, and then suddenly everything was dark. They took off their eclipse glasses and could see the stunning corona of the sun. A few moments later it was bright again and they knew they had witnessed something truly unforgettable. Solomon went over to his bag, grabbed the engagement ring, and she said "Of course!"
