What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The earliest arrival time at the Japanese Friendship Garden is 5:00 PM. Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM, so we kindly ask that you plan to arrive with enough time to get settled and seated. To ensure an uninterrupted ceremony, we won’t be able to accommodate late arrivals once it begins. If you do happen to arrive after 5:30 PM, we warmly invite you to join us for cocktail hour starting at 6:00 PM.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire is requested. We encourage guests to dress in polished, semi-formal outfits such as cocktail dresses, dressy tops, suits, or jackets with slacks. The ceremony will take place outdoors at the Japanese Friendship Garden and the reception will be indoors. October evenings in San Diego can be a bit chilly, so please consider bringing a jacket. There is also a short walk from the ceremony area to the reception pavilion.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is a small parking lot near the garden entrance available for guests. We highly encourage using Uber or a rideshare and entering the address 2220 Paseo De Oro Dr, San Diego, CA 92101, which will drop you off closest to the lower garden entrance. The standard venue address on Google will take you to the main front entrance which will be closed after 5pm.
