Packing Tips

1. Comfortable Summer Clothing Spain in June is warm, so pack lightweight, breathable clothing. Think light cotton, linen, or other summer fabrics. Don’t forget a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun! 2. Comfortable Footwear There will be a mix of exploring the beautiful towns and walking around the villa, so pack comfortable shoes for walking. Sandals, sneakers, or flats are perfect for the day, while dressier shoes for the wedding day should be lightweight and comfortable. 3. Swimwear If you'd like to enjoy the pool at the villa or visit nearby beaches, don’t forget your swimsuit! 4. Light Jacket or Sweater Even though it’s warm during the day, the evenings can sometimes get a little cooler. A light jacket or sweater is a good idea for comfort in the evening. 5. Wedding Attire For the wedding on June 15th, men should bring a white button-down shirt and khaki or linen pants. Women should dress for a garden party, and green is encouraged! Please see the What to Wear section for more details. 6. Sun Protection Make sure to pack sunscreen and lip balm with SPF. 7. Camera and Phone You’ll want to capture the beautiful scenery and the special moments of the trip! Don’t forget your camera, extra phone charger, and any other tech you might need. 8. Travel Adapters Spain uses the Type C and Type F electrical plugs, and the voltage is 230V. If you're bringing electronics, be sure to pack the right plug adapter. 9. Personal Items Remember to bring your toiletries, medications, and any personal items you may need during the trip. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, pack extra supplies! 10. Small Bag for Excursions If you plan on exploring nearby towns or villages, a small backpack or crossbody bag is great for carrying water, snacks, and other essentials.

Currency & Essentials

1. Currency Spain’s official currency is the Euro (€). We recommend exchanging some currency before you arrive, but there are plenty of ATMs available throughout Girona and other nearby towns. Most places also accept credit cards, but it’s always good to carry a little cash for smaller purchases, tips, or places that don’t accept cards. 2. Credit Cards & Payments Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Spain, especially in larger towns and cities. Visa and Mastercard are the most commonly used, though it’s a good idea to notify your bank before traveling to avoid any issues with your cards. For smaller shops or rural areas, some places may only accept cash, so always have a small amount on hand. 3. Tipping Tipping is not mandatory in Spain, but it’s appreciated for good service. A tip of around 5-10% in restaurants and cafés is common. For taxis, rounding up the fare is a nice gesture. 4. Language The official language in Catalonia is Catalan, but most people speak Spanish (Castellano) as well. Many people in tourist areas also speak English, so don’t worry if you’re not fluent in either of the local languages. A few basic phrases in Spanish like “Hola” (hello) and “Gracias” (thank you) can go a long way! 5. Health & Safety Spain has a high standard of healthcare. If you have any ongoing medical needs or prescription medications, make sure to bring enough for the duration of your trip. It’s also a good idea to carry a copy of your prescriptions in case you need to refill. 6. Emergency Numbers Emergency services (Police, Fire, Ambulance): 112 Hospital: Hospital Universitari de Girona Dr. Josep Trueta (+34 972 21 98 00) 7. Time Zone Spain follows Central European Summer Time (CEST), which is UTC+2 during the summer months.
