Travel Note
Tallinn is a winter wonderland in December (so please bring extra layers and winter boots in expectation of snow and ice). Beyond our celebration, we hope you will explore: 🎄 The gorgeous medieval Old Town 🎄 Craft breweries, cozy spas, and rich museums 🎄 The Christmas markets (yes, you can ice skate in the town square!) 🎄 And of course, allow time to recover from jet lag… and maybe a hangover or two… 🎄 We will try to keep our calendars open from December 12–16 to spend quality time together with you!
House Or Rental
Tallinn has incredible hotels, many with famous buffet breakfasts. For convenience, safety, and great vibes, we recommend staying in the following areas: ❄️ Old Town – Medieval charm, central location ❄️ Rotermanni Kvartal – Modern, stylish, close to harbour and restaurants ❄️ Kalamaja – Artsy, full of cafés and converted warehouses (one of which is our party venue!) ❄️ Central hotels we have stayed at and have enjoyed: ⛸️ Savoy Boutique Hotel Palace Hotel ⛸️ Viru Hotel ⛸️ Tallink City Hotel ⛸️ St. Olaf Hotel ⛸️ Airbnb can also be an affordable and reliable way to stay in Tallinn. To maximise your experience, we would recommend Old Town or Kadriorg area.
Train
🚂 Public transport is excellent — trams, buses, and trains. Mobile day tickets are very affordable. 🚂 For faster trips, use Bolt (Estonia’s rideshare app) or Uber — both are widely available and reasonably priced. We recommend doing this in groups particularly as you come to and leave the party. 🚂 Tallinn is also very walkable, especially in the central districts. You will need to wear a reflective cat’s eye in the dark winter of Estonia (it is technically required by law)! Liisa can help you with this.
Flight
If you are flying, your hub will be Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL). For the smoothest entry to Estonia, say “Tere” (teh-reh; meaning: “Hello”) to your border officer and travel with your passport (at least 6 months away from the expiration date). All border officers speak very good English, but all Estonians love it when you speak even the smallest amount of Estonian to them! 🧡 For European Union members 🧡 https://vm.ee/en/consular-visa-and-travel-information/visa-information/who-does-not-need-visa-visit-estonia#eu-and-eea-states 💛 Other internationals 💛 https://vm.ee/en/consular-visa-and-travel-information/visa-information/who-does-not-need-visa-visit-estonia#in-addition-to-the-c and https://vm.ee/en/consular-visa-and-travel-information/visa-information/who-does-not-need-visa-visit-estonia#in-addition-the-foll 💚 UK travellers 💚 You can sometimes find direct flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, or Stansted. Potential airlines: AirBaltic, Finnair, British Airways, EasyJet, Ryanair. Try searching flights to Tallinn or connecting through Helsinki, Stockholm, or Riga. 💙 USA travellers 💙 There are no direct flights to Tallinn from the US. Smoothest itineraries are typically with SAS, Lufthansa, LOT Polish, Finnair, or TAP Portugal. Best layover cities: Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, Frankfurt, London. We recommend flying into a major hub, then connecting to Tallinn. Give yourself (and your luggage) time to pass through border checks. Anything less than 2 hours and you will likely lose your luggage. 💜 Australia travellers 💜 No direct flights to Estonia, but there are good connections via Asia or the Middle East. Popular carriers: Qatar Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Finnair, or Turkish Airlines. Suggested layover cities: Hong Kong, Singapore, Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, then connect to Tallinn or Helsinki. Consider flying into Helsinki (only 2 hours away by ferry or 30 min by plane). The ferry itself can be quite scenic on both sides.
Travel Note
If you are already in Europe, there are comfortable and scenic options beyond flying: 🎁 LuxExpress (and also FlixBus) offers long-distance buses with Wi-Fi, power outlets, and extra legroom connecting Tallinn to major cities like Riga, Vilnius, Warsaw, Kraków, and Hamburg. 🎁 Tallink operates overnight and day cruises between Tallinn and Helsinki, Stockholm, and Riga — a perfect way to enjoy the Baltic Sea in style (with spas, buffets, and cabins).
