How We Met

01/01/2019

We didn’t expect much when we matched on a dating app. It was just another profile, another conversation in a sea of polite small talk. But something felt different almost immediately. Our messages weren’t forced or surface-level. They flowed, easy and genuine, like we had skipped the awkward beginnings and landed somewhere familiar. By the end of that first conversation, we made a spontaneous decision: why wait? We planned to meet the very next day. Our first date started over steaming bowls of ramen. It was simple, cozy, and a little chaotic in the best way- slurping noodles, laughing over shared stories, and realizing just how natural it felt to be sitting across from each other. There was no pressure, just two people enjoying the moment. But the evening led to making plans for a game. On a whim, we decided to keep it going the next evening and headed to a Knicks game. Surrounded in atmosphere at the Garden- the energy of the crowd, bright lights, it somehow still felt like we've known each other for years. We ended the night at a random restaurant that has now become our favorite Korean spot in K-town. What started as a simple match turned into a full day neither of us wanted to end. From that really good first date to a spontaneous basketball with laughter and easy connection—we built something real. What felt effortless that day became the foundation for everything that followed throughout the years of knowing each other and living together. Now, looking back, it’s funny how something as small as a swipe led to something so meaningful. It turns out, bowl of ramen and a Knicks game were all it took to go from strangers to something to a forever thing. && honestly, we wouldn’t change a single thing.
