On our first date, we met at Back Cove Trail in Portland, ME. Darren brought Obi, who was only 10 weeks old. We took a walk around the cove. Once we were done walking we didn't want the date to be over so we drove over to Eastern Promenade and watched the first of many sunsets together.

Mount Katahdin has always been a special place for us, so it was only fitting that Darren proposed here! On 6 am on July 18, 2021 we started our ascent to the peak via Abol trail. The weather was overcast and raining. As we were ascending we were worried that once we broke the tree line into needing to scale boulders that we would have to turn around due to the conditions being slippery. However, just as we broke tree line the sun decided to peak out of the clouds! We ascended remainder of the way up to the top. As we were taking pictures, Darren stopped and said he had to grab his "hat" out of his bag. Much to Katie's surprise, he pulled out a ring!!
