The Stars Aligned

October 20, 2018

Both from Dayton, Ohio, and growing up in the same neighborhood; They met in Denver, Colorado at Charlie's band's show, when Samantha was on Spring Break in 2011 and Charlie was on tour. They were acquaintances through the years, as Samantha was a fan of Charlie's music and they had many mutual friends. When they were both single, they crossed paths at The Dublin Pub. Samantha tripped and fell on Charlie, and they have been inseparable ever since, not one day apart.

The Proposal

March 5, 2020

It was a Thursday morning, Charlie told Samantha that he was going to take her on a date that evening. They went to their favorite restaurant, Kabuki, for sushi & sake. Then they went to the bar where most of their first dates and left-handed dart matches were, Mack's Tavern. Then Charlie drove them to their special pond where they would listen to music and talk, when they first started dating. Samantha thought Charlie was just being sweet taking her to all of their special places; had a thought of that might being the moment, but ignored it. Charlie popped in a piece of gum, put on their song "Mayonnaise" by the Smashing Pumpkins, looked at Samantha with the most serious face she'd seen from Charlie, and asked Samantha to marry him and pick out a ring. Samantha was a deer in headlights shocked and kept saying "omg, wait, wait, seriously" and then YES! Charlie had planned on asking Samantha's dad, Jim, the night before at Elsa’s while Samantha was away from the table. Plans changed and they couldn’t meet up, but Charlie couldn’t wait any longer. The day after Charlie proposed, he asked for Jim’s blessing outside of Ol Bag of Nails. Jim quickly said "No", and Charlie's eyes grew large. He realised Jim was messing with him as usual and Jim said YES

The Moonstone

with diamond stars

It is often said that light moves across moonstone much like moonlight would glide across a large body of water. This happens because light reflects off layers of different feldspar minerals within moonstone. The layers act to diffuse and soften the light, allowing it to “float” around the stone. A Hindu myth says that the moonstone was created with moonbeams solidified into stone. Moonstone was also considered a sacred stone in India. Moonstone was believed to hold certain powers that made it operate as a love stone. This caused it to become very popular as a traditional wedding gift, and was thought to be instrumental in reconciling estranged lovers. It was even a widely held belief in India and European culture alike that two people wearing moonstone on the evening of a full moon would fall passionately in love. The gemstone’s history in India also includes the belief that since the beginning of time, a moonstone had been placed into the forehead of India’s moon god, Chandra. This is represented by the fact that the name Chandra Shekara translates to, “person who wears the moon.” The stone on Chandra’s forehead was said to grow dimmer or become more bright according to the cycles and changing of the moon (and Chandra’s power), and it is this way that the gem became known as the “moon stone.” As a gemstone commonly associated with beauty and mystique, the moonstone was particularly popular among designers of the Art Nouveau Movement. A moonstone engagement ring will show your partner that they are special to you and that your love for them is unique.
