Ian and I met at the University of Tennessee. We were both history majors and had some classes together throughout our undergraduate careers. We started to spend more time together when we both applied to the teacher education program. We went to grad school together for a year, and even sat next to each other as we got our Master's degrees. But we didn't start dating until the summer after graduation, when our grad school cohort started playing trivia twice a week. It didn't take us long to realize we had something special!
For our Spring Break, we took a trip to The Netherlands. We spent a wonderful day at museums, street markets, eating fresh stroopwafels, and taking in the sights of Amsterdam. At the end of the day, we went out to the famous Keukenhof Tulip Fields. We walked around for hours taking countless pictures and enjoying the day together. The park was closing soon, and Ian asked me what my favorite spot in Keukenhof was. I told him it was under the windmill where you could look out on the fields of tulips. He took me back to that spot, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was a day we will never forget.
When we made the tough decision to postpone our wedding, we also decided we couldn't wait a whole year to tie the knot. The Moss family graciously hosted a small group of close friends and family on our original wedding date, and we had the most beautiful backyard ceremony. We can't wait to renew our vows and celebrate one year of marriage with everyone at our reception on June 19, 2021!
