It was on January 23, 2022 when I first saw Julio at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas. I remember seeing him walk through the doors. I saw that he met my brother first and sat by him during the service. He joined us for lunch afterwards. Once we were leaving Grub my brother introduced us to each other. I began praying for him in March. My interest towards him grew when I sat next to him during, "Life Precepts". Tim Posey was teaching about the roles of a husband that night. I didn't mean to sit next to him okay! I was running late. Anyways, after the session was over Julio turned and asked me how I was doing. I shared with him how much of a responsibility a husband has, and he answered with, "It would be an honor." I was very appreciative of his response and continued to pray for him and that the Lord may put it in his heart to pursue me if it was His will, and if it was not His will then may God destroy any feelings I had towards him. During this time I was reminded of the well known proverb you see on coffee mugs and tote bags. It is a simple yet profound verse, "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.". And that is what I had to do. Keep pursuing the Lord and trust who He says He is.
Time has gone by and I kept praying and praying. On Sunday, June 26, 2022, Julio asked me out on a date! I did not see it coming! Earlier that day, while we were playing sand volleyball, I thought "well Lord, it is okay if we are just friends!". After Braum's I was heading to the car, and then I heard behind me, "Hey Michelle, can I talk to you?". I knew at that moment he was asking me out. I believe the Lord’s timing is perfect even when it may not seem like it. We are called to trust in Him completely and to not lean on my own understanding, but keep my eyes on my Precious Savior! His timing is perfect. Contentment is foundational for every relationship and season of life.
We went on our first date on July 23, 2022 at North Italia. We got italian ice and walked around Klyde Warren Park. We continued to go on dates, share much laughter and testimonies. Julio officially asked me to be his girlfriend on September 23rd at Adriatica Village, where 7 months later he would ask me the third and final question, "Will you marry me?". Now we are engaged, planning our wedding, looking for our first home, and excited to spend the rest of earthly lives together. It is an absolute privilege of ours to marry. Help us in prayer and thought that we may multiply and fill the Earth for His glory. We cannot wait to join together as fellow heirs of the grace of life. Praise Yahweh, Christian.
