How we met

2 hours late and we're still together

On a random evening, Libby received a text from a friend and former colleague, Hayes, asking if, "she'd like to attend an event with a GROUP of people" - Libby considered it and figured it sounded fun enough, "sure, why not, yes." Fast forward a week, Hayes called Libby back to explain, "the event is really a golf outing and there are several evening events AND my husband's best friend from high school, he needs a date - are you still in?" Libby considered her options....and, again, she said yes. Jason's side of the story isn't told quite the same, but it's similar to - Josh (Jason's childhood friend) saying, "Hayes has some single friends, want me to see if anyone wants to go to the golf outing?? Jason heard the news that Libby would attend and he suggested rather than have the first meeting be at this several days long event, why not organize a dinner to see if everyone "got along." Fast forward a few weeks to June 26th, a Friday night. It was raining in the city, had been all day, pouring in fact. Libby was trying to get from the Hancock Building, where she worked, to her apartment in Lakeview and was met with terrible amounts of traffic. Having to change and freshen up and get all the way to Wicker Park with very little time to spare, was proving to be difficult. Traffic was horrendous and there wasn't an Uber around. Libby was late, VERY LATE. By the time she made it through the doors of the old bank vault turned restaurant, she was two hours late. She arrived to Hayes, Josh and Jason a few cocktails in and ready to eat. Fast forward to today, July 2019 will be 5 full years of a full life. Adventures, world travels, wins and losses, lots and lots of laughter and the best "sure, why not" of a lifetime.

How he asked

A family affair

Thanksgiving has always been a marathon for Jason and Libby. It starts at 6am for Jason with hockey with his family and friends, then off to the golf course for as many holes as Mother Nature will allow. From there, it's lunch with the entire Kosowski clan at Riverside Country Club, then off to Libby's Aunt and Uncle's house for another round of turkey and all the fixings. This is the story of their first meal of their day. November 2017. Libby arrives at the country club before Jason has wrapped up his golfing adventure and spends time with his family catching up. Jason, is running late (as always) and as usual, is the last to join Libby and his family in the dining room. Libby notices that he's incredibly sweaty, like really really sweaty. She mentions to him to pace himself thinking a few bloody marys might have been the culprit. Jason announces it's time to take a Kosowski family photo, Libby steps to the back of the large group of 43 to allow for the younger kids to take front and center. Jason pushes Libby towards the front only to announce that he wants to be in the front for the photo. BUT Libby had other plans - she quickly responded to his "gentle" nudges, "NO, I will not be in the front." He asked again, "let's go in the front" of which Libby said "no" again. One last time, the third time, he didn't ask but shoved Libby forward into a sea of teenaged nieces and nephews - while Libby was checking on his niece Ashley, she turned her back to Jason for a split second and when she turned around, he was on one knee about the ask an incredibly important question. It was a special day, shared with Jason's family to start, then off to Libby's family for the second round and some important news to share. Thanksgiving has always been one of Libby's favorite holidays for various reasons, this just adds to what makes the day and season so special.

For all the days along the way
