IF YOU ASK LIBBY: In a world where social distancing became the norm and Netflix was our best friend, I found myself in a situation I never thought I’d be in—signing up for a dating app. If it weren’t for the pandemic, I would have never considered it. But one fateful night, boredom struck, and I thought, “Why not?”. If you know me, you know that I had resisted the idea of online dating for the longest time. It just wasn’t my thing and wanted to find "the one" more naturally. But with nothing better to do and a curiosity that wouldn’t quit, I downloaded the app. It was mostly for entertainment, a way to pass the time. Little did I know, it would lead to something amazing. After only 2 days of questionable profiles and cheesy pickup lines, I stumbled upon someone who seemed different. We bonded over our shared love for New Girl and was smitten by Coty's humor. I was obviously hesitant at the idea of actually meeting this person but after chatting for a month and verifying that he was truly not a serial killer, I accepted the invitation to meet up. When we finally met in person, it was like reuniting with an old friend. Our stories aligned so perfectly and how much we had in common was kind of scary. Coty made me feel so comfortable and all night I had a smile on my face. I soon realized that this crazy, unexpected journey had led us to something truly special. So here we are, grateful for the twists and turns that brought us together. If it weren’t for that one night of boredom, we might never have met. But now, we can’t imagine life without each other.
