We met "on the apps," as the kids say. She swiped right, but he messaged first. Neither of us remember his opening line, but it worked well enough to meet for drinks at Barquentine Brewing Co. in Denver. Somewhere between a few beers and a weird frog video on Libby's phone that she was dying to share, we hit it off. Libby left for a ski trip that week, but we were both looking forward to a second date. She woke up to a text one morning: "Denver Restaurant Week is coming up. Why don't you pick any place on the list and we'll go." She says that's when she knew Brent was The One. Days and dates flew by after that. A summer filled with gin and tonics by the pool, autumn walks crunching leaves in Cheesman Park, Libby patiently teaching Brent to ski, and before you know it, we were head over heels in love. We survived a brief stint sharing Libby's tiny Cap Hill apartment, then properly moved in together on Denver's east side. The next fall, Brent suggested a mountain drive one weekend to see the leaves changing. Libby woke up that morning with the sudden urge to paint her nails and do her hair and makeup "so we can take some cute pictures." She knew what was up. And he knew she knew. Beside a trickling creek on Weston Pass just outside of Leadville, we enjoyed a picnic and the autumn sun shining through yellow aspen leaves. "Do you think we'll remember this day when we're old," Brent asked. "I think so," said Libby. "I bet we will," he replied before dropping to one knee and taking her hand. They say the rest is history, but we have so much ahead of us and we look forward to sharing our special day with you all.
