The Wedding Website of Rachel Liaw and Michael Liu
Come enjoy a tribute to the Golden Era of Swing Dancing and Aviation! Rachel and Michael's passions converge in an evening inspired by Lindy Hop, Big Band Jazz, and Classic Airplanes. ALL events will be outdoors. ~~ About the Venues ~~ The ceremony will be held at an outdoor lawn with a view of Diamond Head near Rachel's childhood home. The reception will be held at Café Julia in downtown Honolulu which is named after it's architect, Julia Morgan. Morgan was one of only a handful of woman architects in America during the 1920's and the first female architect in Hawaii when she first began work on the YWCA Laniakea Center. Morgan is best known for designing the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. The Laniākea is listed as one of Morgan's favorite buildings. The YWCA Laniakea Center first opened its doors in 1927, and is registered as an official historic building in the State of Hawaii. Laniākea means 'open skies' or 'wide horizons' in the Hawaiian language.
