In the summer of 2016, George was stationed at Moody AFB while Lianne was in college at Valdosta State University. The two met through online dating and hit it off right away after being matched. After a few days of texting, the two decided it felt like time to meet. Lianne was taking evening classes at the university and her group of friends would play Pokémon Go around campus when class was over. She happened to mention that to George and he convinced his group of friends to go to the campus to play... and meet a girl. The two met on the pedestrian walk between the core academic buildings. Both groups of friends stood back as George and Lianne greeted each other with a hug and a "hey". They talked for a while and knew that no matter what, they were going to be important in each other's lives.
We were in Colorado on Vacation in November 2019 with George's family (his mom's side). We were taking a break from skiing and the entire family had met up to talk and drink some. George's dad suggested we take a family picture in front of the statue by the slopes and so we took the family picture. When it was over, George kinda slipped and fell off the edge of the rock we were standing on and I caught his arm. We were laughing and I was making sure he was okay. I was looking around to see who else saw and when I turned back around - George was adjusting to one knee holding my hand still. And then he said “Lianne” and starting to go for his pocket and I couldn’t believe what was happening. And then he asked me to marry him and I said yes! I fell to the ground with him and kissed him and we hugged and I was crying and couldn't believe this was happening. It felt like a dream and he admits to being nervous even though he knew what I was going to say. As we came down from the rock we were standing on, his family congratulated us and we made our way to some tables for a couple of drinks. I tried to call my mom four times, but she wouldn't answer. Eventually, she called back and I was able to tell her the good news! I couldn't have imagined a more perfect moment.
