Liane and Zack first met in medical school. Liane was in her final year and Zack had just begun his first. Word got to Zack that Liane thought he was cute, so he made sure to talk with her when they both volunteered as medical staff at the NYC Marathon. They spent the entire day laughing, helping runners, and discovering how easy it felt to be around each other. At the end of the day, Liane said goodbye…but Zack still didn’t ask for her number. So Liane decided to take matters into her own hands and slid into his Instagram DMs, sending him her number. From that moment on, they were inseparable. As their relationship grew, so did their careers. Liane matched at her top-choice anesthesiology program in NYC, and two years later Zack matched at the very same hospital in PM&R. Through 24 hour shifts, board exams, clinical rotations, and every new challenge, they supported each other wholeheartedly, celebrating every win and lifting each other through the tough moments. What began as a chance connection at the marathon grew into a partnership that carried them through medical school, residency, and all their adventures in between.
