Thank you for playing an important part of our lives and attending our wedding! We cannot express how excited we are to share these memories with all our closest friends and family in Phuket! We promise this is the final celebration in our journey towards marriage (haha). We have a lot in store for everyone, so we hope you are as excited as we are!
Paul and Li met at Columbia University on the second day of graduate school orientation, better known as "Feelings Day." Li was the last student to arrive and the only seat left was next to Paul. After eight exhausting hours of publicly talking about intimate feelings and emotions, Li and Paul became quick friends. From that point onwards, they were inseparable. They ate lunch together, attended all the same classes, did all of their coursework together, and frequented Bed Bath & Beyond to help furnish Paul's new apartment. Eventually, things progressed into a romantic relationship when, through the coaxing of their friend, Madeline Hopson, Li tried the "Pinky Test." Li placed her pinky next to Paul's pinky and he reached out and held her hand.
On the last day of summer, Paul decided the time was right to propose to Li after hiding her engagement ring around the house for the past year. It was amazing he managed to pull this off because Li is known to organize and re-organize for fun. Paul surprised Li at work with the help of her friends, Laura Quach, Jenny Lam, and Erin West, and popped the question at the Central Park's Conservatory Garden with Maya, their Shiba Inu, in tow. After petting Maya for what seemed like an eternity to Paul, Li said yes and they were engaged! Paul had another surprise in store. He had planned an unforgettable family weekend getaway, including Maya, at a beautiful lodge in the Hudson Valley full of exploring, hiking, and good food.
