How We Picked October 10th

It all began in January 2018, on a night out in their college town of Columbia, SC. Jayne was downstairs at Cotton Gin (she’s adamant about that detail) with a few of Liam’s mutual friends when he walked into the bar. As it turns out, Liam’s phone was broken, so he was roaming from bar to bar, hoping to bump into someone he knew. Fate—or maybe just good timing—led him to that exact spot, and they spent the whole night talking. Their first semester was full of fun, but summers on opposite coasts left them hoping to reconnect in the fall. By October 10, 2018, Liam made it official and asked Jayne to be his girlfriend, and they have been together ever since. The next year was a mix of milestones: Liam graduated and moved to Johnson City, TN, and the two were navigating their first round of long distance. Not too bad, Columbia to Johnson City isn’t that far. But just when they thought they had this whole distance thing down, Jayne went abroad to Italy in February of 2020. The plan? A quick couple of months apart, with Liam visiting. Reality? A global pandemic. By March 13th, Jayne was back in the U.S., and instead of Italy, their great adventure was surviving lockdown together in Charleston. Honestly, not a bad trade: sunshine, walks outside, and a lot of time to just be together. After Jayne graduated, they moved to New York City, where the next four years became a defining chapter in their relationship. Together they built a life in their home city, making friends, keeping old ones close, trying new restaurants, attending all their favorite New York teams’ games, and sharing their first apartment. Then, on April 5th, 2025, Liam got down on one knee in Spring Lake, NJ, and asked Jayne to marry him. Promising, of course, to love her forever (and Poppy too). Now they’re back where it all began, South Carolina! They are ready to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by their favorite people in Charleston, saying “I do” on October 10, 2026, exactly eight years to the day after their story officially began.
