Their story didn’t begin in the same city — or even the same state. It began five hours apart, with Devon building her life in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Liam calling Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan home. Before they ever knew what their future would hold, Liam took a chance — driving five hours to meet a complete stranger for their very first date, simply because he had a feeling it might work out. And somehow, meeting a complete stranger five hours away actually did turn out to be a good idea lol — who knew a gut feeling could be so right? From the very start, love meant miles, long drives, late-night phone calls, and making the most of every moment they could spend together. They took turns making the five-hour drive to see one another, and on many weekends, they met halfway in Escanaba, Michigan — turning ordinary trips into cherished time together. Every mile traveled became part of their story. Every chapter of their relationship before marriage was long-distance. Choosing to live apart for fifteen months wasn’t always easy, but it strengthened their foundation and made every visit feel intentional and meaningful. That season of distance made the transition into living together and married life even more exciting — a long-awaited beginning they had truly earned together. Instead of waiting for perfect timing — a new job, a big move, and a home together — they chose each other anyway, trusting that God had already planned their future perfectly. (Which he always does! 😉) In a small, private ceremony, they promised forever — ready to begin a life that had already proven it could withstand distance and change. Just after they were married, they bought their first home together, filling it with plans, laughter, and the start of their next chapter side by side. After buying their home, Devon moved to Sault Ste. Marie, finally closing the distance that had defined so much of their love story. Liam now pours his passion into his role as the Head Strength and Conditioning hockey coach at Lake Superior State University, while Devon spends her days shaping young minds as a preschool teacher. Their evenings are filled with long walks with their dogs, trips to the beach, snowy driveway shoveling, and plenty of cozy at-home spa nights — something Liam has secretly discovered to love. 😉 What began as a leap of faith between two people separated by miles has become a life built side by side — proof that sometimes the longest journeys lead you exactly where you were meant to be. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family this summer—having everyone we love together at our reception makes our journey feel even more special!
