Liam slid into Antonia's Instagram DMs and the rest is history...kidding! (but not completely). Antonia had heard snippets about Liam from her friend Amanda early in 2019, but it wasn't until that summer that fate brought them together. Liam and Antonia's love story began with a serendipitous encounter at a mutual friend's backyard graduation party in June 2019. The two exchanged only a few words, which left both of them yearning for more. Following some gentle nudging from his friends, Liam took the initiative a few days later and reached out to Antonia with a direct message on Instagram, sparking their initial connection. Their first date unfolded at a cozy Starbucks in Hamilton just a week later, where they found themselves immersed in conversation for nearly four hours. They were so engrossed that they lingered until the cafe's closing! As their relationship progressed with subsequent dates filled with heartfelt conversations, it became evident that they were meant to be. Finally, on July 24, 2019, Liam and Antonia joyfully decided to formally declare their relationship, marking the beginning of a meaningful journey together.

It was a warm November day. Liam was contemplating. Planning the right time to pop the question. He already had the ring, he already has his blessing for her hand, however he wasn't sure how to surprise Antonia. Then it hit him; do a proposal while decorating the tree for Christmas. Simple, intimate, and just the two of them. Antonia would never suspect a thing! Three weeks prior to popping the question, Liam hid the engagement ring within an ornament box they got during their trip to Italy in the summer. Those three long weeks felt like an eternity. In the afternoon of November 30, 2023 - one day before the anticipated proposal date - Liam woke up from working overnight and as a coincidence aligned, Antonia found herself to be home early from a taxing day at medical school. The two found themselves at the right place and the right time for a lunch date, which was promptly followed through and enjoyed. A little Christmas shopping for the apartment was found as well! After Antonia and Liam found themselves back at home putting away the apartment's new decorations, a chord struck Antonia's mind; "I should put up one ornament on the tree as a joke and say 'All done'!". To Antonia's (and Liam's surprise, with his back turned and on one knee untangling some Christmas lights), she discovered a black box within the ornament box they bought in Italy. While the shock factor was still in place, Liam professed his eternal love for Antonia and asked for her hand in marriage within the confines of their current apartment (both in sweatpants, and their cat present), and have been happily engaged since that fine November afternoon.
