We first crossed paths in high school, both serving in leadership roles in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) during our junior year. Back then, we didn’t interact much, and honestly, we didn’t think too much about each other. Fast forward a few years—during Nguyet Nhi’s summer internship in 2023, Leyton reached out and asked her on a date. On a whim, she said yes, not expecting much. Two years later… here we are, ready to say “I do.”
The summer of 2023 brought an unexpected twist in their story. Leyton made the trip to Little Rock, Arkansas, to visit Nguyet Nhi during her engineering internship and whisked her away on their very first date—at none other than Texas Roadhouse (yes, there were rolls involved). A few weeks later, on August 22, 2023, they made it official. At the time, Leyton was a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, studying American Politics, and Nguyet Nhi was deep in her Mechanical Engineering studies at the University of Arkansas. Most of their years together were spent long-distance, seeing each other only during school breaks. But every single day, without fail, Leyton would FaceTime Nguyet Nhi—proving that while the miles between them were many, their love never missed a beat. Turns out, distance really does make the heart grow fonder.
Over the past two years, Leyton and Nguyet Nhi have adventured their way through a relationship filled with joy, curiosity, and a whole lot of love. Whether it was weekend trips when Leyton was home from school or mini getaways during Nguyet Nhi’s internships, they always found a way to make every moment an adventure. Northwest Arkansas became their playground—exploring new coffee shops, hiking trails, and all the fun hidden spots the region has to offer. Their favorite place of all? Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, where the art, scenery, and peaceful walks made it feel like their own little escape. Some of their sweetest early dates were shared there. Last September, Nguyet Nhi moved to Hampton, Virginia for an internship, and Leyton flew out over Veterans Day weekend to visit. Together they explored Virginia Beach and the Colonial Triangle—Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown—soaking up history like the proud museum nerds they are. Those days added some of their favorite memories and brought them even closer. In February, Leyton invited Nguyet Nhi to West Point’s 100th Night, giving her a glimpse into his world. It was a magical evening that made their love blossom even more. This past summer, they traveled to Chicago and the Gulf of Mexico for two of Leyton’s friends’ weddings, turning each trip into an adventure of its own. From city lights to ocean views, they explored, laughed, and made memories that now feel like milestones in their story. Every place they’ve been has added a new chapter to their love—one that continues to grow, no matter where life takes them next.
