I had known Alexis for some time. She was my younger brother’s good friend, so she was over my family’s house pretty often. Her beauty was strikingly noticeable and her personality was contagious, but timing seems to be everything, right? We weren’t yet ready to cross paths, our lives weren’t quite ready to match up to each other. Years passed by without us running into each other much, but I kept up with her on social media. It seems like social media is where most love stories start these days; I guess these are just the times we live in, but I credit that one Snapchat story in 2017 where Lex responded back to a photo of my brother’s puppy to the beginning of the rest of our love story, so if social media is how we came to be, I’ll take it. Fast forward almost two years later and we both made the decision to spend the rest of our lives together. Our engagement story is the perfect example of how you can plan everything to a tee, but sometimes you’ve just got to let go and let life happen. It was a mad dash, but the most important person in my life agreed to marry me, so despite forgetting my phone to coordinate plans in the midst of an engagement, the night went perfectly. Lex and I have both been waiting for this moment with our person for what feels like a lifetime. And here we are, writing the story of us, about to be married, and start the rest of our lives together. It feels surreal; Surreal and yet, like it was always meant to happen this way. I see it as my life before and after getting together with my dream girl. I’m thankful to be getting an “after”, and my hope for all of us is that we find an “after.” So, cheers: Here's to the rest of forever with my person. We can’t thank you enough for being a part of this special day with us.
