The Wedding Website of Lexi Kinchen and Ben Canty
Question

From Ben

Answer

My side of the story begins on a snowy January morning in College Station. After spending the week before skiing in the Central Sierra, I woke up to fresh dusting of snow in the backyard of the Green House and decided to continue my streak of “powder” days. I laced up my shoes and went on a jog, which in about 2 miles became a slip n’ slide as I ate it on a patch of ice. Fortunately, I only did this in front of about 30 people at a darty. Nice. I got up and decided to make my way back home cautiously (and sorely). Along the way, I passed by some friends sitting around a fire and stopped in for a visit. I noticed a girl who was very pretty but was so caught up between replaying the wipeout in my imagination and figuring out how to salvage the rest of my day, I went on about my business. Besides, she probably had a boyfriend anyways. Oddly enough though, as focused as I was on salvaging my day, I never got the chance. That girl I noticed ended up turning to me, introduced herself as Lexi Kinchen, and made me forget entirely about my blunder on the ice. She was also single. I was so blown away by her, that in a move that was equally reckless as it was forward, I followed her on instagram that afternoon, telling my friend Colby, “I’ll probably never talk to her again.” Little did I know that two weeks later, I would be rescheduling a flight to miss the Waste Management Open in favor of a Chi O date party, that some still make fun of me for, but that I am extremely proud of. And with that, the rest is history.

Question

Answer

My side of the story starts on a chilly January day in College Station — the kind of day where staying inside would have been the sensible choice. Instead, I went with my roommate Gentry to ride on a mattress chained to the back of a truck driven by none other than Colby Patterson. Gentry was the best kind of bad influence in college, and some of my most fun nights started with her wild ideas. After sliding through the historic district, we headed back to Colby’s house to warm up around a bonfire. That’s when he showed up—this crazy guy in shorts and a beanie, mid-run. My first thought was, What in the world is that guy wearing? But as he got closer, it quickly turned into, Dang… he’s cute. When I got the chance, I introduced myself: “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met — I’m Lexi” (Ben doesn't like how I like to point out that I made the first move) We ended up talking for a while, and I remember thinking, Wow… a guy from California can actually be this cool? (Kidding. Mostly.) We talked until Gentry had to pull me away. A couple hours later, I looked him up on Instagram… and saw he’d already followed me that same day. That was all the courage I needed to ask him to my next Chi O date party. He said yes. And that night? That’s when everything changed.
