Our Story Spencer and Lexie first met in August of 2017 after bonding over a shared love of the shows The Office and Criminal Minds. Spencer’s uniquely memorable opening line was “my name is Spencer, like Spencer Reid” (a character from Criminal Minds). To this day they credit the show with creating the initial spark that has led us to this upcoming day of celebration. Before they officially became a couple, Spencer & Lexie spent a few months getting to know each other through frequent date nights, trading their favorite memes, and having karaoke sessions in the car to Spencer’s favorite CD: the pitch perfect soundtrack (green flag). They quickly found that they shared many of their interests, beliefs, values, and (arguably most importantly) their sense of humor. Despite their shared propensity for introversion, they never seemed to tire of one another. Soon after they started dating, Lexie transferred to D’Youville to finish her degree in nursing out in Buffalo while Spencer stayed home to continue working in Rochester. They spent more frequent time apart, but always made it a priority to see each other on weekends. The late nights spent playing video games together, laughing about the skill difference between the two of them, also helped ease the burden of being apart. After an impromptu trial of living together while Lexie finished her degree remotely (thanks covid!), Lexie & Spencer decided to get their first apartment together in 2021. Soon after, thanks to ceaseless pleading from Lexie and to nobody’s suprise, they adopted their first cat Sylvie. A few months later, they (read: Lexie) decided that Sylvie needed a friend. Thus, their little gremlin Misha arrived to complete their home. Spencer even enlisted the help of his two most trusted kitty confidants to propose. Using collars engraved with the words “will you” on Misha’s tag and “marry me?” on Sylvie’s tag, Spencer asked Lexie to marry him. Spoiler alert: she said yes! Since the engagement, the pair have also celebrated the accomplishment of buying their first house together. They have been hard at work turning their new home into a space to create even more special memories together with their friends & family. It has been a crazy year made possible through the endless support of those around us and we could not be more grateful to those of you reading this.
