Friendly Reminder - High Altitude

We're so excited to welcome you to Colorado Springs!
At about 6,000 feet above sea level, the elevation is beautiful, but it can surprise those not used to it. Here are a few friendly tips to help you stay healthy and enjoy your trip:
Before You Arrive:
Hydrate Early: Start drinking extra water a few days before you travel. Hydration helps your body adjust to the altitude.
Ease Into Activity: Planning to hike or explore? Try to arrive a day or two early so your body can adjust.
While You're in Colorado Springs:
Drink Plenty of Water: Aim for at least twice your normal intake.
Take It Easy: If you feel lightheaded, short of breath, or extra tired, rest and don’t push yourself.
Watch the Booze: Alcohol hits harder at altitude (yes, even your favorite cocktail!).
Eat Well: Carbs help your body adjust, so enjoy that extra breadstick or slice of cake!
Know the Signs: Altitude sickness can include headache, nausea, dizziness, and trouble sleeping. Rest or talk to a provider if needed.
