Our story began in the fall of 2020, back when Jonathan I were both students at Texas A&M University. I was just trying to pick up my friends from an Aggie Football watch party, and hoping to just stay in the car because I was underdressed. My roommates convinced me to come inside for “just a little longer”, so I reluctantly went and found some of my friends to hang out with. Shortly after, they were leaving and I looked around to find my roommate standing in a small group of people, which is where I met Jonathan. The moment we were introduced, it was like something clicked. Our conversation flowed so easily, and we both felt comfortable right away. Before we knew it, two hours had flown by, and was my roommates that were trying to get me to leave the party. As I was about to leave, Jonathan asked me for my number so he could take me on a date. Fast forward to January 2024, I finally got to plan a trip to Crested Butte, Colorado, with Jonathan and some of our closest friends. Crested Butte was a very special place for me. Growing up, my family – even relatives from Sydney, Australia – would fly there to go skiing and visit my grandparents. It’s filled with so many important memories and experiences with my late grandfather, so I had been dying to take Jonathan there. Even though we planned the trip together, I never suspected a proposal. It’s funny because about a year before, one of my bridesmaids-to-be even asked me, “What would your dream proposal be like? I told her, “My ideal proposal would be in Crested Butte with my friends and family.” She never told Jonathan, which makes his surprise even more special. On the day he proposed, my future sister-in-law secretly spent hours decorating the house, transforming it into a surprise engagement party. Every detail of that day was so intentional and filled with love – it truly showed how well Jonathan knows me. Surrounded by our closest friends, I felt so incredibly loved and excited to be marrying the love of my life. It was a day I will never forget.
