Most of you know the story by now... Boy gets job at the mall. Girl gets job at the mall. Boy meets girl. Boy and girl start taking extended lunch breaks together; bonding over their love of a good dive bar, Boston sports, and above all, the fact that they had both each recently become an aunt and an uncle. Girl uses her birthday to trick boy into a date at the Beachcomber in Quincy (of all places)...and the rest, as they say, is history. The following eleven years or so will be filled with aquarium visits and bowling alleys, concerts and comedy shows, friendships and forced family fun, Bruins and Celtics games, road trips (featuring some very intense car ride karaoke) and souvenir shopping, nights in watching Jeopardy! and playing card games, about a million different hair styles and colors between the two, and last, but certainly not least, a little apartment affectionately known to many as The Boathouse (RIP). Then, on one summer evening during a vacation with the Garrity family down in Avalon, NJ, Derek and Lexie were basking in a picturesque evening out on their balcony, listening to their favorite songs and taking in the ocean breeze. Little did Lexie know, Derek brought a ring down with them, planning to propose to her while looking for the perfect moment between the two to pop the question. Deeming this night as "the night", he pulled the black diamond ring out of his pocket. Barely able to get the words out, Derek asked Lexie if she wanted to spend the rest of his life with him. And, squashing any sliver of a doubt he may have had, she responded with a resounding "YES", and the two of them spent the rest of the night crying, laughing, and excited as hell to share the good news with their family and friends the next day. Through all of their adventures, together they grew older, arguably wiser, and completely and totally in love with each other. Some may say this day is a long time coming, but they've never been more ready than they are now to "make it official" surrounded by all of their favorite people. The question is...are you ready to party?
