We both knew each other in passing for years before. Our friend groups had crossed paths multiple times in high school, but we never got to know each other. Little did we know, we had already caught each other's eye. The Lord used our passion for the ministry and worship to form our friendship during the summer of 2019. To our surprise, we ended up at the same college that fall and began to form a relationship through many, many coffee and late-night study dates.

Disguised as a dinner date at Mrs. Chicken's house, Lexie was oblivious to my plans. After distracting her with coffee and veggietales silly-songs, we arrived at Chicken's house and had dinner. All the blinds in the back of the house hid the lanterns, lights, and decorations placed in the backyard. I led her out the backdoor and through a path of lights to the spot where I popped the question. Thankfully, she said yes. Praise be to God.
