We met in North Harford High School's band room during our Concert Band class. He played saxophone. I played flute and piccolo. We knew of each other back then. Nothing more. It took us 10 years and COVID for us to start talking. We're a COVID Couple!

We were on our family vacation to the OBX when Derek proposed. My dad told me and my sisters to pack nice clothes this year because we got a photographer to take nice pictures of the family and me an my sisters with our boyfriends. On the night of the proposal, my sisters and their boyfriends went ahead to the beach. I didn't think much about it at the time. My parents and grandma stayed behind at the house with me and Derek so we can all walk together. With my parents and grandma behind us, Derek and I walk down the dune leading to the beach. To the sides of us are my sisters and their significant others. In front of us is the beach and a romantic set up. Derek gets down on one knee, and I say "Yes!" As soon as I say that one word, the sky opens and pours down on us. It was a night I'll never forget!
