As unique as Lexi and Reid like to believe themselves to be, their love story is as millennial as they come... they met on Bumble (a dating app, for our less tech savvy friends). While Lexi found herself on and off 'the apps' over several years, Reid was lucky enough to hop on Bumble for A WEEK before he received a message from Lexi, and found himself on his first, only and last Bumble date! They 'matched' on Bumble when Lexi was working remote, living in her hometown of Fairport, NY during the pandemic; while Reid was working at his alma mater- SUNY Brockport. Lexi was starting a new role with the Sixers and traveling now-and-then between Jersey and Rochester at the time, and Reid was convinced between the "No, I really do work for the Sixers", and "I really would like to go out sometime, I just have to go to a professional sporting event with no fans during a global pandemic" that Lexi may in fact be an ever dreaded 'catfish'. He soon learned after their first date at the Village Bakery, followed by a stop at Western NY staple: Wegmans, that she was in fact the real deal. Alas, after nearly a year and a half of dating in Rochester, the pandemic ended (sorta), and Lexi was set to go back in-office in Philadelphia. They begrudgingly pursued a long-distance relationship for one year, until Reid was able to move to Philly where they currently live. Despite his small town roots, Reid has come to feel at home in "the city of brotherly love", and on occasion has been known to root for 'the Birds' (so long as they're not playing his beloved Bills). Within six months of moving to Philly, Reid knew he wanted Lexi to be his forever and asked her to marry him at Ballyseede Castle in Tralee, Ireland. Lexi hates surprises, and Reid hates planning them, so she may have had a hunch it was happening ;). The stop at their favorite Black-owned jeweler in Philly a few months prior to their trip certainly helped to solidify things for Lexi. Just after Reid 'popped the question', they waited a few hours to tell family and close friends of their engagement, so as to soak up the moment. To date, Lexi still says it was among her favorite memories of their engagement. They talked about where they might marry, the surprises Reid was able to pull off throughout the process, how the only day it rained during their trip to the Emerald Isle was on the date of their engagement (go figure), and so much more. They knew immediately that they'd marry close to their roots in Western, NY despite the incredible folks of Ireland doing their very best to convince them that their American friends and family would be smitten to attend a destination wedding in Ireland. Alas, with Western, NY on the brain, Lexi and Reid knew that they wanted to tie the knot where their love story began, and where their lives as one will commence. They can't wait to celebrate with you on Keuka Lake, and thank you eternally for being a part of their love story.
