Lexi and Matt always knew of each other since they both taught at local Catholic schools. Lexi taught Social Studies at Catholic High in Troy and Matt taught Middle School Social Studies at St. Mary's in Waterford. They've actually had quite a few of the same students over the years. Lexi had become accustomed to hearing about "Mr. R" from her students from St. Mary's. At the end of one school year, Lexi was asked by St. Mary's, her alma mater, to be the keynote speaker at the 8th Grade Communion Breakfast. She had finally met Mr. R, who was in attendance as the 8th Grade teacher.

It was Labor Day weekend and another summer had seemed to fly by for Lexi and Matt. Lexi was now a teacher at Colonie High School and after a brief detour, Matt had returned to St. Mary's as principal. It was the last week of summer before entering the unknown of the 2020-2021 School Year. Matt knew that despite being busy all summer "opening a school during a pandemic," his time was running out to propose to Lexi during a Saratoga Lake sunset, as has been his plan for some time. Luckily, his patience paid off and they were treated to a beautiful sunset for Matt to finally pop the question in front of their families.
