We met long, long ago in the halls of McCall-Donnelly High School. My dad was Hunter’s coach, I went to all their practices and open gyms. After many morning workouts, awkward conversations, and passable attempts at flirting, we decided that maybe, there could be more. We didn’t exchange numbers until the biology trip to the Real Bodies Exhibit in Boise (how romantic, right?!). Hunter asked me to be his girlfriend right in front of my freshman locker after lunch, and the rest is history!
After a nice New Year’s Eve dinner out, Hunter took me back to where it all began…the high school. He said he had “left some lights on” in the gym – which he had – but when we got to the front doors, he stopped, dropped to one knee, and began the best speech I have ever heard. Through the tears in our eyes, we agreed to spend the rest of our lives together. Caught up in the moment, we may have forgot to turn off the lights. Oops!
