A few weeks before Memorial Day we decided to take a trip up to Quebec City for the holiday weekend. It was a place we had been talking about going to and this was the perfect time. Alex had the whole trip planned out, as he normally does. Each day we explored a different area in the city, tried different types of food, and attempted to understand the French being spoken around us. On Memorial day, Alex planned for us to take a 3 hour car ride to Tadoussac, a small village in Quebec at the confluence of the Saguenay and Saint Lawrence rivers. We spent our time exploring the little town and finding a good place to eat where we really got to flex our basic French skills. It was foggy out with a bit of a chill but we were still set to go on a small trail that Alex picked out. Now is the time to say that throughout this trip, I had been taking hundreds of pictures. The trail went though a wooded area and came out along the river. We walked around the coast of the river for quite a while, I figured he was ready to move on but he said, "Why don't you take one more panorama?" knowing darn well that I had already probably taken 5, I was not going to pass up the opportunity to take another. I walk to where I believed was the highest point to get a good shot of everything around us, between two rocks with puddles all around. Alex touched my should and said "I think over here is a better spot." Ecstatic that he wants me to take more pictures I oblige and move over slightly. Little did I know, he was planning for what was to come and trying to save my phone from disaster. I start to take the panorama and he is standing behind me. I have made it about halfway through my picture when I hear "Babe..?" I turn around to see him smiling down on one knee "Will you marry me?" All I know is that I threw my phone (thankful he knows me so well - it survived unscathed) and tears poured down my face as I said "OF COURSE!"
