Who knew attending the graduate student outing would lead to a wedding!?! It is February 2018, and Ethan and Lexi are both in graduate school for school psychology. Ethan at the University of South Dakota, interning in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Lexi at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). They both flew to Chicago to attend the National School Psychologist Association annual convention and went to the graduate student outing. Lexi being her typical social butterfly self was talking to anyone within arm's distance of her by the bartop when it was time for Ethan to get another beer. He looked towards the bartop, thought Lexi was cute, and walked over next to her to order a beer. Before he even had a chance, Lexi turned around and said, "Hi!" and introduced herself. The two talked until the bar closed, exchanged numbers, and met up the next day. Since meeting, they talked every day through long-distance. Despite in 2019 when Ethan took a visiting assistant professor job at the University of South Dakota and Lexi interning in Portland, Oregon, they decided to make it official. Their next steps were to move to the same place! After Lexi and Ethan both applied to school psychologist jobs in Virginia and Minnesota, they both got jobs in Lexi's home state of Virginia and now both work for Fairfax County Public Schools. Together, they have experienced their first years practicing as school psychologists, a pandemic, meeting each other's families and friends, and two apartments. On New Year's Eve, Lexi and Ethan made plans to have dinner and bar hop. After going to some of their local favorites, they went home just to be with each other. Lexi was playing music and dancing around when one of our favorites, Chris Stapelton's Tennessee Whiskey, came on. They were slow dancing, and Ethan proposed.
