Lexie and Hassan grew up in the same neighborhood and attended all the same schools (Elementary-High School), but never formally met. Fast forward to late Fall 2013, former classmates created a Facebook (FB) event to plan an unofficial reunion scheduled for the Eve of Thanksgiving. They both attended the event and never crossed paths, but this isn't where their story ends... Hassan found Lexie on the FB event page and requested she be his "friend", with a click of a request sparked a conversation. One thing led to another and they found themselves on their first date the very next day! There were several dates to follow that week and they have been together ever since.
Hassan and Lexie packed their bags for a weekend getaway to a cozy cabin on the shore of Lake Superior in Hovland, MN. After what seemed like the longest and darkest drive imaginable, they finally arrived at The Bartness Cabin and were greeted by their friend, Conor and his pup, Major. They got settled in and discussed their plans for the next day. While discussing their plans for the next day, Conor mentioned there had been record breaking waves earlier that week along the shore. This piqued Lexie's interest, to which she said "No way! Do you think I'll find some sea glass?". Conor chuckled and responded "I'm not really sure... maybe". Excited for the adventures the next day would bring they all decided to call it a night. Friday morning arrived and Hassan filled the cozy cabin with the magnificent aroma of homemade chocolate chip pancakes. He then suggested that Lexie enjoy her pancakes, while he and Conor collect firewood for a bonfire on the beach. Not but 15 minutes later, Hassan came running back in exclaiming "Lexie, we found some sea glass!". Lexie practically jumped into her snow boots and ran out the door, full of excitement, to find her first piece of sea glass. They walked (Hassan practically running) up the shoreline to a spot on the beach tucked behind a few trees. A message made out of sea glass on the sand "L + H" with a heart. Lexie turned to Hassan and asked "Is that real sea glass?". Hassan, reaching for his pocket and dropping down to one knee, replied "That's not real sea glass, but, I've got a real rock for you!- Lexie, will you marry me?". In total shock, barely able to form real sentences she muttered "What- is this for real! Are you serious?". Still down on one knee, he said "Yes-Lexie, will you marry me?" to which she quickly replied "YES! OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU!". The rest of the weekend was filled with exploring, hiking, playing fetch with Major, scavenging, a bonfire on the beach and it ended with a beautiful snowfall.
