We're getting married!

On the last day of her freshman year at Loras College, Sarah was chatting with her friends, Fran and Udo, in the lobby of Binz Hall. In the midst of their conversation, she noticed a guy sitting across the room. His bright blue eyes stood out, and though they didn’t speak that day, she couldn’t get him out of her mind. That guy was Josh. After Sarah and Fran walked away, Josh turned to his friend Udo and said with firm determination: "You see that girl? My only goal next year is to talk to her." The summer came and went, but right before the new school year started, Sarah began to notice Josh more—especially on social media. He was liking her tweets frequently, and though her friend Fran wasn’t convinced they would be a good match, Sarah's curiosity grew. Then one day, a family connection brought things into clearer focus. Sarah and Josh’s connection ran deeper than either of them realized. Josh’s father had grown up in Sarah’s hometown and attended Summit Hill Junior High, where Sarah’s mom now works as a teacher. One day, Mr. Ruggles reconnected with an old teacher from Summit Hill on Facebook. As they caught up, the teacher mentioned that one of her coworker’s daughters played volleyball at Loras College—the same school where Mr. Ruggles’ sons, Josh and Jake, played basketball. This small-world connection intrigued Mr. Ruggles, so he asked his sons if they knew a girl named Sarah Lewis. Josh’s response was immediate and enthusiastic: “I wish I knew her better lol she is BEAUTIFUL. 10/10 would recommend.” Mr. Ruggles took a screenshot of the exchange and sent it back to the teacher, who forwarded it to Sarah’s mom. When Sarah saw the messages, she realized Josh had been trying to get her attention all along. That night, Sarah added Josh on Snapchat, and within minutes, he responded. From there, their story truly began.
