Ashley and Lewis first met early January 2018 onboard the Coral Princess. They didn't think much of it, even had a few other interactions by accident. One of which, Ashley even thought that Lewis was seeing one of the singers which is why he ALWAYS came to every show. Turns out, he simply was taking advantage of his ship privileges. Mid-February, a nosey Ashley sat down next to a lonely Lewis at the crew bar, and the conversation didn't end until 5am! From that night on, they were inseparable: always going to dinners, the pool, crew parties, and Lewis now attending the shows to watch Ashley. At week 6, they shared their love for each other and knew this was more than a "ship relationship". Fast forward over the next two years, they have visited each other several times in our respective countries, having many more adventures along the way: a wonderful first year of marriage being one of them.
They had talked about marriage for a while, and with them being in different countries, it's reasonably expected. Well, if you are aware of the whole "visa situation" with them, Ashley had to return to the states to prolong her travel visa. This month apart really solidified their love for each other and dedication that they would do whatever it took to be together. After their difficult decisions on officially moving Ashley to the UK, she was ready to return to her future home. Now, unfortunately for Lewis, Ashley landed about 45 minutes early and Lewis wasn't quite at Arrivals on time to get on one knee as Ashley exited. Yet, once they found each other and connected, he proposed right then and there. Due to the unique scenario, they had our wedding date already set for Tuesday September 17, 2019... yes, 10 days after. So, not quite the dramatic surprise couples tend to have, but perfect for them nonetheless. However, Ashley certainly didn't expect Lewis to propose in public, that's for sure.
Lewis and Ashley wed in Southampton, England. The intimate ceremony included both of their parents, Lewis' three grandparents, and Ashley's grandmother, Jayne. By having a private ceremony at this time, it would be easier for them to move forward to live their lives together in England. They have now settled together in Hedge End where they both have stable occupations to coincide with their passions of engineering and teaching dance.
