This one time at band camp... kidding! So there are two variations to our story; both include that we met through Kacie's then-roommate and Rebeca's then-coworker, Whitney, so we usually keep it brief and leave it at that. The first is that we met outside the House of Blues after a Miranda Lambert concert when one of us had lost her sister & bumped into Whitney and her two friends waiting in line to get into the club. Since this person was alone, she tagged along for a while and sparks flew. So much so that the next day she didn't even remember the girl (but the girl remembered her). The second takes place a few weeks later. Whitney invited Rebecca to a boxing match with her roommate and some friends in a kind-of-set-up with Kacie. We ended the night dancing until our feet hurt and laughing until long after last call. The second time stuck, so I guess we can go with that.
After 3 years of dating, it is VERY hard to surprise each other. On a Friday after work, we planned to take a ride to the beach in Quincy for sunset. We came home, changed clothes, packed a cooler and a blanket and hit the road. We chatted on the way there about our days, parked, and stopped for Rebecca to use the restroom - all very normal things. Then, we sat on our blanket on the beach and played some music (that I later found out was carefully curated for the occasion). Suddenly, Rebecca pulled a jar out of her bag. She made me this jar for Valentine's day the previous year and it was filled with little slips of paper that each said something she loved about me. She asked me to look at them because I had read them all and she redid them. I opened the jar just as Zac Brown Band's "Loving You Easy" began to play and poured out the jar. EVERY SINGLE PAPER said "Will you marry me?". I thought it was a joke! I cried, I used some profanities (shocker, right?) and cried some more. And when I looked up she had the most perfect ring held out for me. Once I stopped cursing and crying, we went to grab dinner and she surprised me AGAIN! Some of our closest friends were all waiting for us as we entered the room. It was absolute magic. And she even had a change of clothes for me in the car to make sure I looked as good as I felt! Now if that's not love, people, I don't know what is..
