Mercury Lounge is the place we met and our favorite spot in Tulsa. Free live music every night of the week and $3 High Life, what's not to love? On weekends, there are sometimes ticketed shows which often cost $20 or less. Don't forget to bring a tip for our favorite bouncer, Big Fish.
Tori and Ruby "dated" also, going to the Gathering Place and dinner dates with Levi- but many of our great early memories are at American Solera. A lovely patio with a tap room full of funky beers. Their wine is surprisingly good- in fact we drank the Field Blend the night we got engaged.
If you visit one place on this list, let it be this! Coracle Coffee is located in the heart of downtown Tulsa with the best coffee in town (we're not just saying that!). Tulsa's local roasting legend, Tyler Duncan, opened the doors to their flagship store operated by Lydia Duncan and GM Lillian Duncan. If you know Tyler, you know that a mean breakfast burrito and a blendy thing can cure all your worries. We have a variety of memories around Coracle. The morning after Levi proposed, we stopped by Coracle for coffee and breakfast before Levi re-proposed with the ring (there's a story there). Also, a month into dating Tori invited Levi to a double date with two of her friends where Tori officiated Tyler and Lydia Duncan's wedding and Levi signed as their first witness.
A favorite for a breakfast taco or salad over lunch, we (Tori) loving call it the Chi Chi Bistro. Lots of vegan and gluten free options with fresh juices and a pastry case that packs a punch.
Ruby's recommendation for your visit is none other than THE Gathering Place. The Lodge was the backdrop for Tori and Levi's anniversary date, which involved Indian Takeout sitting by the lake. Ruby particularly enjoys playing tag in the hall of mirrors (don't get bonked) and movies on the lawn (Tori was thrilled that Ruby loved watching Halloween Town there with her). Tori and Levi are fans of the Riverside Trail for long walks or rides along the water.
Bohemian Pizzaria makes the best darn pizza this side of the Arkansas River (and you can quote us on that!). Our favorite spot for a drink and splitting a pie. If it was up to Levi, he would order you a Meatball Pizza or the Funghi, while Tori would point towards the Pesto Chicken. What they can agree on? The Amalfi Coast Fig and Local Sausage are a crowd pleaser.
For a cheeky cocktail in a retro room or the best smash burger to grace your lips, Tina's is the spot. An excellent patio and groovy indoor area make this the perfect spot to visit for a quick bite before a visit to the Mercury Lounge. Note, on weekend nights it can get a bit noisy inside. Lovely and delightful, but noisy. We recommend a Tina's beer or Mezcal Negroni!
A cozy pub with authentic pub food (look for their "Brown Soup of the Week"), this is a romantic spot to curl up in the corner or pull a few tables together to catchup with pals. Split a G or enjoy some of their red wines to pretend you're in the UK out of the scorching Oklahoma heat. One weekend we went on a mid-morning coffee walk, when unexpected downpour started we ran into the nearest business- Bishop Quigley. Did either of us have our phones? Nope. Our wallets? No way. But damn it made for a great memory.
