We met in the evening in the Zachary Engineering Building's Starbucks where Levi was working on his research. Jacquelyn had just finished a class across the street and was on her way to Bible Study in Zachary when the sky opened up in a downpour of rain. Now soaked, Jacquelyn walked into the building, and Levi offered to buy her coffee. They immediately clicked over their love for tacos and country-western dancing.

Levi invited Jacquelyn out for a special date night at The Republic, asking her to be ready by 7pm. When he came to pick her up, he told her the reservation was pushed back to 8pm, and they should go for a walk around campus to pass the time. It had been raining for days. Levi and Jacquelyn's mom were praying all morning that if this was God's timing, He would have the rain stop just for that moment. Sure enough, that was just one of the amazing blessings that day. Levi led Jacquelyn to the Century Tree, which is one of the oldest trees on campus and arches over a walkway. The tradition states: if you walk under the tree with your soulmate, you will forever be with one another. Following this tradition, Levi knelt on one knee and asked Jacquelyn to marry him.
