How it all began, I was 21 years old, going to CSUB for nursing, and working at the Holiday Inn Express part time when I met Sal “Chava”. A wannabe chulo driving a Toyota Camry haha. Sal was 28 years old, working as a wildland firefighter at that time with Springville Hotshots, when we met. It was all fun and games until we fell in love. I became a stepmom to two beautiful kids Alondra who was 12 years old and Nathan who was 3 years old. It was hard and a big adjustment for all of us. After graduating CSUB and working as a registered nurse, we bought our first home together in Bakersfield on September of 2011. We decided we were ready for a baby, I got pregnant with Leisel in 2012. Christmas Eve of 2012 was when Sal proposed to me at my mom’s house with my family all there. My response, of course, was “yes, finally!” After dating for 5 years, we eloped on February 8, 2013, when I was 8 months pregnant with Leisel. Hoping we would have a real wedding within the year, but that did not happen. So here we are 10 years later, finally having the wedding of our dreams.
