In Spring of 2015, Jammi was a young gal living her best life in Dallas, Texas. She had heard of a new dating app, Tinder, and decided to try it. That is where she first laid eyes on Ben, a NASCAR fanatic living in Fort Worth - And that PERFECT smile. They both swiped right and started talking. After a few months of various dates, life took Ben and Jammi their separate ways. They would run into each other a handful of times over the next few years, but did not stay in touch. Fast forward to October 2018 when Ben realized he could not live without Jammi. One sunny Sunday afternoon, he took the opportunity to “slide” into her DMs. After a few days of exchanging texts, they agreed to meet at Chelsea’s Corner... Jammi promised Ben this bar played Nelly - No Nelly was played that night. Ben will tell you this was a lie Jammi told to get him to Dallas. Whatever it was, it worked - The following night, Jammi made the trek to Fort Worth to meet Ben's dog, Bambi, and for a night out at the Stockyards. Under the dollar-bill-covered ceiling of the Basement Bar, the couple knew that this was going to be good thing. Ben and Jammi continued dating for 5 years. During this time, Ben eventually sold his home and moved to Dallas. The couple packed as much fun in as possible by taking trips to Lake of the Ozarks for long weekends, fostering (and foster failing) dogs, collecting vintage tee shirts, “family” vacations with friends, turquoise hunting in Santa Fe, NASCAR races, supporting local artists, going to concerts - So many concerts… Jammi and Ben bonded over music in 2015 and concerts quickly became a staple in the couple's adventures, seeing artists like Turnpike Troubadours, Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, The Eagles, Sturgill Simpson, and Dead & Co - Just to name a few. In September of 2023, Jammi and Ben packed up their townhouse and moved 3 hours north to OKC. Life was hectic and their new home was a sea of boxes... But the couple jumped at the invite to join their friends, Lindsay and Branden, at the F1 Race in Austin, Texas. Lindsay had secured VIP passes to celebrate Branden's birthday... Or that is what Jammi thought. Ben saw the opportunity to tack on a "work project" while in Austin and scheduled brunch at Willie Nelson’s Ranch, Luck. Jammi did not think this was unusual, since they had been guests at Luck for various events before. Willie built Luck as the set for his movie, The Red Headed Stranger, where he played a preacher. His character's chapel is still on site and the backdrop to many pictures of Ben and Jammi during their visits. Jammi and Ben arrived in Austin and the next day, the friends loaded up and headed to brunch at Luck. As they were buzzed in and pulled up to the ranch, a very, very unsuspecting Jammi questioned where everyone else was... But she still took her time to visit with Ben's friend, Matt, creative director for Luck. Ben grew impatient, grabbed her hand, started leading her to Willie’s chapel, and told her they were NOT going to F1. Jammi… Confused… Turned to their friends and asked to be sure, “we aren’t going to F1?” Ben got down on one knee and it all made sense... She eventually got out a “YES!” after Ben popped the question and opened a ring box, shaped like a cowboy hat. The friends loaded back up in the car and Ben suggested grabbing a drink while Jammi called her family. Branden knew just the place and headed to Angel’s Icehouse. Jammi... Again, clueless... Was greeted by their closest friends to celebrate the newly engaged couple. It was the best day, with the best people. Jammi is still in awe of all the planning and coordination it took to pull off the ultimate surprise. Since then, Jammi and Ben have continued celebrating the engagement every chance they get. They are looking forward to having “one more” best day with the best people on September 6, 2025.
