Attire for women at Mehndi Function: Punjabi dress, which is actually 2 pieces pants and long shirt in any various green shades, should be short sleeve or sleeveless. Outfits will be purchased in the first days in India and will be tailored to each person prior to this event meal: Puri bhaji {small fried puff with potato peas } + pulao {fried rice with veg} (veg) + Shirkhand {dessert} (kulkarni bros) + Kurma +cold drinks +water bottles. Mehendi artist is already reserved- women start thinking about your designs

Casual spa day in the home of the Gholekar's. Treatments will be called in and include nails painted, pedicures, hair treatments, hot stone massage Males- tbd- drinking, touring, shopping Nothing too stressful as we will be traveling the following morning

We will be traveling via a mini bus and SUV. The drive is about 2 / 2.5 hours, we have allotted an additional 1 hour for delayed traffic and breaks. We can stop quickly along the way for restroom and snacks but longer breaks are not advisable due to needing to reach the venue on time.

During this time we will be unpacking, freshening up, settling in the rooms. Then we will be having the lunch buffet that is provided to guests at the hotel. After lunch will need to change into event attire for the next event

Family members and friends playfully slather the bride and groom in a paste of turmeric, oil, and milk. After this those who need to will return to hotel rooms clean up and change for the party Turmeric Ceremony holds two key points, turmeric is used to keep the groom and bride healthy due to it's antiseptic properties, while also unifying the bride and groom by exchanging antibodies of their partner.

We have decided to combine 2 events engagement ceremony and the sangeet. At this event there is an exchange of sweets. Harmons will exchange their sweets (preferably brought from USA and homemade) to The Gholekar's and vice versa. In the ancient times this ceremony Sakharpuda or Sugar Box signified the acceptance of the proposal, the joining of two families and two communities. Sangeet! It is time to PARTY!! Dinner, cocktails, entertainment and dance- yes you must dance- karaoke, toasts, and fun

Part 1 -punyavachan- Punyavachan in a Maharashtrian Wedding is the ritual to make ourselves and our surroundings pure before performing any vaidik karma. The ritual is usually done on the day of the wedding. The groom will complete his punyavachan with his karavala {best boy} prior to bride. Punyavachan is completed by the bride with the accompaniment of Karavli {maid of honor}. Part 2- Kanyadan a wedding ritual that symbolizes the bride's transition from daughter to wife. Brides mother and father need to perform this ceremony. Part 3- Saptapadi {7 vows taken with 7 steps} is regarded to be the most important rite of a Hindu wedding ceremony. In this rite, the bride and the groom tie a knot and take seven steps together, and complete seven rounds around a sacred fire, accompanied by one vow for each step. After the seventh, the marriage is considered complete. Part 4- Antarpath-a sacred cloth once dropped signifies the joining of bride and grooms souls.

Bride & Groom travel together back to Mumbai for grihapravesh. Grihapravesh is to welcome the bride into her new family home. Her mother-in-law places a pot filled with rice at the doorstep. The bride gently tilts the pot with her right foot as she enters her new home, signifying the arrival of prosperity and bringing good fortune to her new home. Cassie's Guests will explore Lonavala with accompaniment from Aditya {Agnish's friend} These guests will be staying an additional night at the upper deck resort.

Guests have 2 options at this juncture CALEB- will be flying back to USA from Mumbai Airport Cassie, Agnish, & Uma- train to Goa 10 pm night before travel by car to visit the Gholekar ancestor's Molly, Dawn, Linda, Jim, Matt, Mahesh, Aditya, Deepa traveling on vistadome sightseeing train to Goa. Family will be staying at a hotel near trainstation to ensure the train ride is not missed.
