How We Met

05.21.2023

Once upon a time in the far off lands of the internet there in the balance hung a site called Bumble. As Adam swiped left and right and left and right, he came across a genuine, straight forward, attractive maiden. As quickly as he could, Adam sent off a "super swipe" in hopes of catching her attention! It was “Super Effective!” Why hide anything during story time? She created a dating profile to berate men for being sex driven perverts. She constructed a profile posting every red flag she had, posted her best selfies and from there, she lie in wait. She believed she came to battle fully prepared. She was wrong. First problem she came across was figuring out that she was the one that had to start a conversation with the potential test subjects. Alright, that's fine, adapt, overcome, put your opponents in their place! A few conversations here, new test subjects over there, and she realized she was really enjoying dragging these so called men out into the light so they could see themselves for what they really were; pathetic. A mind is like a blade. Mine is honed, theirs was dull. It wasn’t long before someone really caught her eye. Fortunately for him, he was not her target. His face was innocent and genuine, his smile; unfeigned. His profile, was warmhearted, and she was starting to forget what she had come for. Something was whispering in her ear, distracting her. She tried to silence it. “Is there something about my profile that interests you? I know my profile can intimidate most.” that was the only round she was able to fire off before being completely disarmed by a man of unparalleled perfection.

Ever Gone On a Pre-Date?

Well how about two?

On May 24th, Adam stated that I should let him buy me dinner, "you know basic first date." I let him know that I wasn't ‘basic’ and that I would let him decide whether we do overly dressed up or if he wanted to do the complete opposite and go out in sweats. Adam chose overly dressed up, and I was extremely excited! So we planned to go to dinner on Monday, May 29th. On May 27th we had our first video call and we talked for about 3 hrs after he had gotten off work, which he then proceeded to tell me that he was supposed to be at his cousins baby shower. We continued to text throughout the evening until the baby shower was over and he went to Taco Bell to grab himself dinner. He called and we talked for about 45 mins when he asked me what I was doing & I informed him that I was cleaning my room but in that moment I was using him as a distraction. Pretty much, without missing a beat, he said "I'm coming to get you!" I was so excited! I sent him my address and started getting ready. Had no idea what we were going to do, since it was 10:45PM, but I knew we were going to have a good time AND that I was not in any danger what so ever. Adam was already standing outside of his truck, ready to open my door by the time I made it down to meet him. We drove around listening to music and getting to know each other and then decided to go sit in the bed of the truck at Solimar beach until the thunderous roar of our empty stomachs overpowered everything else. Dennys at 5AM is definitely the place to be if you're looking for breakfast and a show. He dropped me back off at home at 7AM and said something about taking a Power Nap and I said I was going to get back to the cleaning that I had put off to go hang out with him. 9...hours...later... Once he emerged from his slumber he was telling me that he was barbecuing for dinner with his family and asked what my roommate and I had planned for dinner. As I was home alone that evening, I sent him a photo of a bag of trail mix that was mainly gone that I had planned on smashing. Apparently that was not an acceptable dinner so Adam sent a horse drawn carriage (Uber) to rescue the damsel hidden away in the highest room of the tallest tower. I arrived at the Segovia home and immediately my nasal passages were pleasantly filled with scents of different meats being barbecued to levels of perfection I hadn't had since I was just a wee lamb myself. I was walked around and introduced to his parents as well as his sister. Dinner was absolutely delicious and the company was just as amazing! I remember us all sitting in the living room talking about Adam’s Power Nap he had gotten to take that day but how l stayed up because I had cleaning I needed to get done. I remember thanking them for their hospitality and that was pretty much all she wrote. I was finally, physically in a place where I felt safe enough to sleep.

The Proposal

09.10.2023

From pre-date 1, I knew that Samantha was the one. I already knew that I was going to ask her to marry me. So the planning begun! I had to figure out what ring to get her and how I was going to pop the question. Luckily, Instagram was super helpful, sending pictures of rings back and forth, I was able to settle on the perfect ring. Now that I had the ring acquired (which came in the world's largest box! So I had to find a smaller one) it was time for the how. I knew I wanted it to be a total surprise, so I came up with beach sunset proposal! I chose the beach we went to on our first pre-date. With the help of my mom I was able to get a proposal photographer ready and all I needed was the day. Frantically looking over the weather reports I landed on the 10th of September. With ring in hand, date picked out and photographer scheduled all I needed was to figure out how to get Sam on board. I came up the idea of us doing a "photoshoot" with a tripod we had just got so we could fill some new picture frames we had recently purchased. I was as nervous as could be at this point, setting up the camera and getting some good shots of us before turning the video feature on for the big moment. Right as the sun was setting in the background, Sam turned away reaching behind her for a bear hug, (a photoshoot pose I kept sending to her) but I dropped to one knee waiting for her to turn around. The utter suprise on her face and the “are you fucking serious!" out of her mouth, made me realize I had done well. After the big moment the photographer and my parents ran up congratulating us and grabbing some really nice pictures before the sun set. She got, got! Apparently she had thought the week leading up to it, I was planning on breaking up with her and that night I was going to leave, so I must have done really good. All and all she said yes and absolutely loved the surprise! I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with you, Samantha.
