He was "the panini guy" that I'd visit on my breaks just to grab a cup of coffee from. I was the girl who worked next door at a bubble tea café. He called me out one day on how I was coming over to pay for something that he knew I probably could get for free. But I kept coming back. There was just something about him that stood out so clearly to me and it continued to draw me more and more to him. (Let's be honest, it was the beard). One evening, we began to really talk for the first time. About life, passions, and ourselves. Not knowing if he knew Jesus or not, I went out on a limb and asked him where he attended church. I too, started to attend shortly after. We slowly started to get to know one another, and the rest is history. The coffee was never that good, but his company always was. Marietta Square holds a very special place in our hearts and it always will.
We spent the day touring the Biltmore. We couldn't help but to be in awe of the grandeur of it all – the architecture, the attention to detail, the beauty in everything that surrounded us. As we ended our tour, which took us a few hours to complete, we found ourselves quite exhausted from all of the walking. We decided to recharge and give the village and winery a short visit. Andrew mentioned taking a small trip back to the estates to view the gardens earlier in the day, but I had completely forgotten about it. So to the gardens we went! There are about six different gardens at the Biltmore, so we had a lot of ground to cover. As we began to meander the grounds, we were reminded that we needed to be off of the property soon due to an exhibition that was about to begin. We tried our best to hurriedly yet leisurely look around. As we started walking to the car, Andrew stopped, looked around, and said that we should check the spring garden out before we left. We started off well, following the arrows that would correctly point us there. But shortly after, those arrows disappeared. The only thing we could find was the one garden we didn't want to go to. After some time trying to figure out where we took a wrong turn, "trying to find a map online" (Andrew was actually trying to figure out the exact location of the photographer), deciding if the clouds above us looked like rain was about to make an appearance, and walking back and forth to the car, we decided to just go to the azalea garden. A few steps in, and it began to P O U R. With no umbrella nor any rain-jackets with us, we grabbed one another's hand and just ran in the direction of the garden and in search of shelter of any kind. The Lord is so good because we found the most precious boat house to wait the storm out under. We sat and talked together. Watched the rain together. Laughed in the rain together. Just like our first date together. Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to be forever his. 💛
