The Meeting

11.17.17

Marie and David first met on the dating site, "Coffee Meets Bagel." David was enticed by Marie's smile, and by her great relationship with her puppy. Marie was drawn to the picture of David wearing a blue wig a student had put on his head from "Seussical the Musical." Their first date almost didn't happen, as both were stressed and tired from a long week at school, but as fate would have it, a little encouragement lead to something wonderful. They met in Marie's neighborhood of D.C. and walked what seemed like 20 miles in the frigid cold to the "Meridian Pint." Both had already eaten dinner, so David had a beer and Marie had a bite of Mac n Cheese. Holidays, school events, and traveling took over the next few months, but Marie and David realized right away that their relationship was unique and special, and they continued to get together as often as they were able.

The Proposal

11.17.19

After getting permission from Marie's parents on their recent visit to Virginia (and getting Livy's approval with puppy kisses), David decided to propose on the anniversary of their first date (although Marie would have been happy if it was months earlier). Marie and David often celebrate holidays and birthdays at one of their favorite restaurants, "The Melting Pot." They celebrated the anniversary of their first date at the restaurant in Reston, VA. However, nerves got the better of them, and they left before a ring was presented. Instead, in front of a more familiar crowd (Milo and Livy), David propped up his phone, hit record, and got down on one knee, to ask the woman of his dreams to be with him forever. He actually had to rerecord the proposal a second time, because Livy was so excited that she kept jumping up on him and licking him. In contrast to Livy's excitement, Milo was sprawled out over the floor, without a care in the world thinking to himself "it's about time!"

The Wedding

10.10.20

Although plans had been in place for months to have a typical wedding ceremony and reception, the times in which we live are far from typical. After much consideration, Marie and David transitioned their plans to a much smaller celebration of their love, in order to keep those whom they love and cherish the most safe and healthy. We are so thankful for your love and support throughout our lives, and we hope that you can celebrate our wedding ceremony in a virtual setting.
