Happily Ever Akins

*September 2015 Wrightsville Unit/ADC where it all began Captain Cordall Akins meets Lieutenant Les’Quincia Smith The duo were both recently promoted and assigned to the same shift. They had the same goal in mind for those they were responsible for. *2016 Capt. Akins transferred to Pine Bluff Unit as Lt. Smith stayed back and continued to work toward their goals. Capt. Akins and Lt. Smith stayed in touch, mostly through email, as their tenures with ADC progressed. *2017 Lt. Smith left the ADC family and Akins continued and promoted to Major. *Later 2017 Cordall meets Les’Quincia The two began to learn each other on a personal level. They were drawn to each other because all previous conversations were centered around Corrections. However, they endured a bump in the road as Les’Quincia left for the Police Academy and things started to fade in early 2018. *December 2022 A mutual friend, Kurtis sent messages between the two. *December 25, 2022 Corey meets Quin Quin stepped out on faith and sent a “Merry Christmas” text to Corey. Within minutes, Corey and Quin’s world did a 360. For days at a time, they were inseparable. Corey and Quin knew life would not be the same this go round if they parted ways again. The couple spend hours riding country roads and absorbing the big open sky for miles at a time. *February 2023 Corey gives Quin her very first beach experience in Galveston, Texas. *May 5, 2023 Corey asked Quin’s hand in marriage. He knew he had to do it romantically with a ring later. At that moment, Corey’s heart could not hold back any longer. *October 2023 Corey treated Quin to her first airplane experience. With their birthdays three days apart, they spent it in Kent & Seattle, Washington. October 20, 2023, with water waves and the Seattle Space Needle in the background, Corey got down on one knee with the most beautiful ring, he asked “Will you marry me?” As Quin’s heart pounded and tears formed, she grabbed Corey with multiples “yes” as if saying it once wasn’t enough. From the words of Corey Wrightsville, our first staff meeting is when I first took notice of Quin’s physical appearance. I was attracted, but I wasn't going to cross the line. Working together over time I noticed Quin’s work ethic and intelligence. Needless to say, I was impressed, but I wasn't going to cross the line. After leaving Wrightsville we stayed in contact through a couple courteous but cordial text messages, but I wasn't going to cross the line. Long story short and by passing a few things. A few months ago, while talking to a friend Quin’s name came up and they asked if I wanted them to reach out to her. I said yes. Praying to Jesus, I told him if not Quin then no one. I would be content to live a life alone if I don't have Quin. To my surprise we communicate as if we've known each other forever. I thought I was losing my mind because I had given up on having happiness with someone and here Quin were... When Quin first told me she love me, I was wondering if she knew what she said. Can anyone outside of my siblings and my Lord and Savior really love me? She loves me unconditionally. From the words of Quin This man, respectfully, kept it strictly professional while we worked together. So professional until he rarely greeted me with a hello. Corey kept it strictly business. I know it sounds like something off the tv, but it’s true. He never crossed the line with me. When Corey left Wrightsville and we kept in touch seemed so unreal. I can’t stress the fact that this man, respectfully, was one of the meanest supervisors I ever worked for. When Corey expressed his attraction to me, I was lost. I didn’t know how to accept it or respond to it. But, the feeling was mutual. Our demanding jobs kept us from see each other but our conversations were so natural. Deep. As we were going to take it up a notch, things took a turn. Almost five years later, God brought us back together and there’s no fight to stay together because it’s meant to be.
