My side of the story is different than Trey's of course, so here's my version. In nursing school one of my best friends Lacy and I had a weekly ritual, Taco Tuesdays. One week, at a restaurant on the seawall in Galveston, I saw this cute guy the minute we walked in. We sat down at a table, and all of a sudden he was standing next to us. Lacy and Trey (The guy) had met playing soccer together at A&M Galveston, so he came over to say hi. When Lacy introduced us, he smiled at me and man oh man what a smile. It wasn't quite love at first site but whoa baby it was close. (Trey later told me that he thought I was being stand-offish but I was too nervous to talk to him!) A few months later, a group of friends and I went country dancing on the strand in Galveston and lucky for me, Trey was there with a group of his friends. That night, I creepily stared at Trey to try to get him to come ask me to dance, but he never did! I somehow got the courage to ask him myself. I told him I was trying to get away from some creepy dude...real smooth. So we went out on the dance floor and THAT was the moment that I knew I wanted to be with him. Later that semester, I had just finished my last exam of nursing school so several classmates and I went back to the restaurant/bar where I had first met Trey to celebrate. He was working as a bouncer at the door, EEK! After some liquid courage, I went out by the door where he was for some "air". The whole place is open to the outside, so that was an embarrassing excuse. We ended up talking for a bit and I told myself he probably wasn't interested. But shortly after we left, he found me on Facebook and messaged me! (Who's the creep now!) We went on a few dates, thinking in the back of our minds it wasn't going to go anywhere since he was being sent off to work with MSC within the next 2 months. But, we decided to give it a try anyways! And here we are, ready to spend the rest of our lives together. Man, I love Taco Tuesdays.
Trey was out on the boat for work for his birthday on the 23rd, so we had to celebrate when he came back on Tuesday the 25th. Leslie's parents, sister and her husband, Christopher, all went to Grazia Italian, one of Trey and Leslie's personal favorites however Trey decided to make her mother pick the place, what a heavy task! Leslie knew what everyone was gifting to Trey ahead of time. She noticed there was one extra present but didn't think anything of it at the time. After starting on appetizers and Leslie's mom suggested Trey to go ahead and open up his presents. He went through all of them and got to the last bag. Right as Leslie had taken a HUGE bite of bread, Trey turns to her and said that the present was actually meant for her! Kelli is in the background saying over and over "Is this happening?! Is this really happening?!". Meanwhile Leslie realized what he was about to do, so she tried to chew really fast to get bread to go down. It was too big of a bite! Leslie's dad suggested to drink some water. Well, she did and the bread only expanded in her mouth! (See picture under photos tab.) A hot minute later Trey got down on one knee and asked Leslie to be his wife, after a very sweet speech. And of course she said YES! Funny story though, Trey had originally planned on proposing that Friday at the beach in Galveston, the island we met and went to school. He had decided on Monday he needed to just do it when he came home Tuesday because he just couldn't wait the whole rest of the week! Leslie had a feeling that it was going to happen on that Friday with the way Trey was talking about all the plans...he is terrible at keeping secrets. So it was a pleasant surprise that she didn't see it coming that day! Obviously, or else she probably would've been more cautious on the size of her bites.
