Harbour Island is a small cay off the northeastern tip of Eleuthera. The island is home to miles of soft pink sand beach, pastel painted colonial cottages, a lively restaurant scene and quaint boutiques, making it one of the most sought-after destinations in the Bahamas!
There are limited flights per day into the North Eleuthera International Airport (ELH). It is recommended to book your flight in advance for the best availability. Remember, you are flying to the Bahamas, so do not forget your passport! ELH is a very small airport, so do not rely on being able to use wifi for your phone. If immediate phone access is important, you may want look into enabling international data for your phone plan. NOTE: Phone service is not needed to get taxi or transportation! Also, the same goes for booking your accommodations. Harbour Island is a small island and places do book up- for the best options and availability, it is recommended to not wait until the last minute to book.
ABSOLUTELY :) It means the world to Tiffer and Leslie that are you planning to make the trip to Harbour Island to celebrate their marriage. All wedding guests are invited to the events listed on the Weekend Schedule page!
This is recommended! As stated before, the island is small, so restaurants and reservations will book up.
It is not necessary to trade-in or exchange any cash prior to coming to Harbour Island. The American dollar is interchangeable with the Bahamian dollar at 1:1. However, please make sure you do bring some cash with you! Taxies (land and water) take cash only. A few restaurants on the island only take cash as well.
When packing for the wedding weekend, please keep in mind most events will take place outside. It is important to consider the hot Bahamian sun during the day and the cool ocean breeze during the evening. For the welcome party, resort wear is preferred. For men, please plan to wear nicer shorts or pants, with a button down or collared shirt, jacket optional. For women, please plan to wear a beachy dress or a blouse with a skirt/pants. Remember, we will be in the sand, so please wear a thicker heel or a shoe you can kick off easily! For the wedding, island formal is requested. For men, please plan to wear a jacket to the ceremony, with pants. For women, plan to wear a nicer, yet island appropriate, dress or outfit. All related events will take place on hard surfaces, when considering footwear. Please, no shorts or flip flops.
The Bahamas has done an amazing job dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are a few updates regarding travel and event implications: 1. You will need to provide a negative test 5 days or less, prior to entry into The Bahamas. This will be uploaded into the Health Visa you will create at this website: https://www.bahamas.com/travelupdates - This website is a great resource! 2. In addition, even though you can enter The Bahamas without proof of vaccination, The Ministry of Health is requiring that all wedding guests provide proof of vaccination to attend any wedding event. It is recommended you bring your physical vaccine card with you, just to be safe! This applies to everyone over 18. There may be some exceptions if your healthcare provider has recommended you should not receive the vaccine.
3. Lastly, the United States currently requires a negative test to travel back into the country. These tests are available near the Government Dock, on Harbour Island, where the water taxis arrive and depart- no appointment required. We are trying to see if rapid tests will be available at Pink Sands Resort as well. There are also OTC tests you can purchase to bring with you (such as BinaxNOW AG) that are approved for entry back into the country.
