The day before our wedding nuptials will mark the 12th year of our love journey. We have been blessed with so much it's hard to imagine a life without one another. When it was just us we enjoyed ourselves as a couple but with our girls we truly feel like a family now. Our love for one another has continued to grow and mature and we are grateful for that as our growth has allowed us to appreciate one another. And our love for our family is bursting at the seams as our children have shown us our hearts were bigger than we ever imagined. As we start this next level of commitment to one another, we are confident that we will continue to grow together and our love will continue to blossom. This exciting new chapter is yet another chapter in the story of Les and Tina.
My family had come to Denver to visit for the 4th of July and my birthday. We had enjoyed the family time and I was super excited for my birthday dinner. I had opened my gifts early and I thought that was the only surprise for the day. Babe had woken up bright and early and brought me balloons and a cake and I had received all these wonderful gifts from my kids, my Mom, Dad and Sister and of course my love. I was overjoyed with my family being there and the gifts that the dinner was just the icing on top! Little did I know, babe had been plotting much more than that. Babe had found a Denver location of my favorite restaurant which we had gone to every year for my birthday back in Houston. It was a bit of a drive from our place but she was determined for the night to be just what I wanted. As we arrived at the restaurant, I took the girls to the restroom and everyone stood huddled at the hostess station and Tina spoke with the concierge in hushed tones. I just thought I was getting a birthday cake and song lol I was way off! We sat and laughed and ate and had a great dinner. Tina's sister was there and they were more chummy than usual but I chalked it up to the festivities of the evening. As dinner came to an end, the host brought a huge piece of key lime pie with a burning candle... here comes my birthday song!!!! Wrong! As the cake was turned, I saw this little blue box with a beautiful sparkling ring. I was utterly stunned. In my shock and awe, I turned to see Tina on her knee. This was really happening... at that moment I saw the nervous grin on her face and everyone at the table was cheering and laughing with excitement. Then she says to me... " I could go on and on but I won't because I'm nervous but... Will you spend your life with me babe? Will you marry me?" Of course, by now I am crying and screaming with joy shouting "Yes!!!!! Of course I will!" By that time, we noticed the entire restaurant was applauding us on our engagement. People came to our table, telling us congratulations and wishing us well. The rest of the evening was a bit of a blur but I do remember the smile I wore and continue to wear knowing that soon I will marry my best friend.
